Our Process: Custom Stone Products

At Stonesmiths, Inc. of Indianapolis, we take great pride in our quality craftsmanship. No matter what products we create for our customers, we go through a specific process to make sure it’s done right and that it’s one of a kind. From granite countertops to outdoor kitchens, here’s the general process you can expect when you come to Stonesmiths.

1. Take measurements.

With any custom project, we need to make sure it fits your space perfectly. Therefore, you will provide us with measurements that will serve as the foundation for your finished product. If you need guidance as to how or what to measure, just ask our staff.

2. Schedule a design consultation.

You can stop by our showroom during business hours or contact our staff at (317) 770-1333 to set up a design consultation. We prefer to do our consultations here in our Noblesville location so you can see all your options. During the design consultation, we’ll work together on a concept that fits your space and meets your criteria.

3. Choose a material.

At Stonesmiths, you don’t just select a stone product based on a small sample. You get to choose the actual stone we use for your home project. You can choose between granite, marble, quartz, and more.

4. Create a template.

Before we start cutting stone, we want to make sure we have a template that is custom fit to your space. We generally do this by creating a laser template, which can be done without altering your space.

5. Select your stone layout.

We invite our customers to come to our shop before any cutting takes place so you can tell us exactly which parts of the stone you want to use.

6. Fabricate and install your product.

It’s time for the magic to happen! We will fabricate your custom stone product, completing each piece by hand (instead of by a generic machine). That way, you get that one-of-a-kind piece that you’ve been dreaming about.
